Tell me just why football clubs always expect to get away with it -and usually do!What makes them so b****y special that they can deduct tax and NI from their employees` wages and then use it to incur more debt in the form of more signings. If `ordinary business people behaved like that they`d be dealt with most urgently...as many are. That whole rathouse stinks and the sooner it collapses the better.

I was told by a reliable source about a certain football club which hadn't connected a few turnstiles to the 'counter' which meant that a whole section of the ground went unrecorded for nearly ten years. And below the radar of the tax office of course.

I've heard a few do, Serchers...it's called the Golden Gate!

Ask yourself this- why does no football club ever give an attendance that is the same as the ground capacity?

Yes WBB, it was along those lines. And (this was a few years ago) the cash collected from these gates was always taken home by a senior club official to 'be counted' ..... result being a remarkably low percentage of fivers when the cash was returned on Monday !

I think we had better be very careful here and made clear that no one here is accusing Sheffield Wednesday of any of these 'Golden Gate' activities...
