| Allan Stanford?????? I can imagine the discussion now.... Stanford - "I need to find someway back into English Cricket?" Thenewt - "We are looking for a new sponsor at Worcestershire, it's a fantastic ground, most beautiful, and a good way to get you back into Cricket would be starting up again a New Road" Stanford - "New Fraud you say, sounds perfect!!!!" The above post is not the views of this website or Worcestershire CCC. (Just a little fun!!) |

| I'd go for an old pal:
Duncan Fearnley Worcester- Bosch
Or Marston's PLC- who sponsor England and a variety of Counties already- and who are in place as our Official Beer Supplier.
Or a wild card of something in finance, law or meejah. |

| I agree WBB and would guess one of the existing sponsors such as Marstons or OGL Computers.
OGL used to sponsor Kidderminster Harriers and I don't think they have any main sponsorship deal at the moment.
It would be nice if WCCC could follow the current trend and partner with a charity as main sponsor, but I suspect that would not fill the funding gap left by Apollo 2000. _________________ |

| If all else fails, we could each chip in a tenner, and have one of our Avatars on the shirts, perhaps the gorilla or WBBs Portmeirion vingette, very tasteful. Or a mug shot of EC! _________________ My first match: Headley, Turner, Stimpson, B d'Oliveira, Hemsley, Yardley, Ormrod, Wilcock, Gifford, Holder, Carter

| Marstons is a very good shout. I'd go for Adjuster's gorilla, or EC's mugshot. Not much difference there, some might say. _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

| From Worcs News : WORCESTERSHIRE will begin formal talks with the firm they want to become their main sponsor today. The New Road club have been looking for a new sponsor after Apollo 2000 went into administration last week. Although the County are remaining tight-lipped on who they are speaking to and the figures involved, chief executive Mark Newton is hopeful a deal can be thrashed out either today or early next week. “We have put no deadline on coming to an agreement but we would like to have it sorted out as soon as possible,” he said. “Perhaps we could have a deal by the end of today or early next week, we’ll just have to see.” One firm who did not enter the running is Worcester-based energy suppliers npower. Their head office is based near Warriors’ Sixways ground, but they are committed to cricket nationally. _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

Fearnley - not exactly a big player anymore are they? Bosch - recently withdrew their sponsorship of Upton Jazz Festival, so I'd put them in the "No" box too. Marstons - a possibility Premier Inn - that's where my money's going, bearing inmmind they will be running our hotel when it's built. |

| Premier Inn is also a good idea Henry, it makes sense too. DF have cut back a bit but they were only 'substantial' before because of the sponsorship and high profile players he had on board. Hopefully we'll find out on Monday. _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

| Email received : but who is it ? (and will they buy my Apollo shirt back as part of the deal) Worcestershire Secures Team Sponsorship Just weeks after losing its official team sponsor, Worcestershire CCC has secured a replacement for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. The new official team sponsor will join Marstons (official beer supplier), Fearnley Cricket (official team kit supplier) and Clydesdale Bank (official banking partner) as the major corporate sponsors of the Club for 2009. _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

| Commercial Director, David Leatherdale, says “Following the announcement about our search for a new sponsor, we received 14 expressions of interest which resulted in 3 confirmed offers worthy of consideration, all within a week. We have now signed a two year contract worth six figures.
Given the general economic situation and the fact we had to conduct a fire sale, we were surprised and delighted about the level of response generally. The meetings we had with those companies making an offer were immediate and conducted in a very professional manner. Despite the urgency of the situation for us, it was very important we made sure we could fulfill the aspirations and needs of a new sponsor before signing any contract.
It is very apparent there is a lot of goodwill within the business community towards the Club and Cricket in general which has been very encouraging and we look forward to introducing the new sponsor at our photocall day on 14th April.” |

| The e-mail also says that the sponsor will JOIN Marstons, Duncan Fearnley and Clydesdale Bank, so does that mean we can count those 3 out? |
