| Wow I honestly feel for the people who lost their jobs, and also the management who must be going through a terrible time. What is the possible impact for the club ? Where are we going to get a sponsor a month before the season starts ? |

| I've just come online based on this same story alone.
Catastrophe? I suspect Vanessa Redgrave and Liam Neeson may beg to differ.
But Apollo has been a good friend- a diehard friend- to Our Club. It has also sponsored Albion's youth team. It was by legend or truth founded by Dave Broughall.
It is a big problem- and I fear the credit crunch has directly hit us at last. Not much sleep for Lugsy and co. for the next few days/weeks. |

Agree Serchers I feel for the folk thats lost their jobs, the cricket sponsorship is miles behind in importance to the people now looking for work. Has the club got all their kit made this season, if it has the sponsorship on surely they will have to have new kit made- more expense for the club to find, I am guessing this will have to come of the cricket budget as everything else is down to the bear bones. |

Dear heavens- I hadn't thought of that! All the replica kit is now out of date- will people still want to buy it? |

| I wouldn't want to buy a new shirt or cap if it has a old sponsor or a tatty piece of sticker covering up where it is. |

| Won't this depend upon whether we have received the money for the 2009 season from Apollo 2000 already? If we have then the sponsorship continues, because the Official Receivers office in seeking to find a buyer for the business will use the already in place Sponsorship of WCC as a potential advantage for any future purchaser. eg Advertising rights already in place etc. If on the other hand the money isn't in the bank, then to carry the logo would be of no advantage at all. I believe that the kit is already ordered, and delivery imminent from Duncan Fearnly. I would have thought the team was expected to sell Apollo 2000 as a business on their tour toSA, so they must be gettnig it anytime now. As with everything - it all depends upon the money!! |

| Here's thenewt on BBC :
Newton conceded that the development will leave the club short of money this season. He said: "Our agreement with them ran to the end of the coming season. We haven't got that money so we no longer have an official team sponsor. "We have had our challenges in the last few years. "It's not disastrous but it is a significant loss, and something we have to try and remedy as quickly as we can. "To be frank we are in a fire sale situation. There is an opportunity there for somebody. "But we are never going to make up the sort of money we would have got this year at this stage." |

Very worrying. I've just phoned a friend who might be interested- but I doubt very much that they will be for reasons to do with timing, credit crunch and money. It's a long shot- a very long shot.
I hope a law firm will come in- or accountants. I doubt whether financial services firms will at the moment. |
