| Can anyone tell me what the members area consists of now please. During the close season last year one of the committee (can't remember if it was Tim Curtis or Percy Price) mentioned at Stourbridge Cricket Society that the only part of the ground that non members could not access would be the GH car showroom.
However when I got down there I found the steward and the members only sign in place behind Basil's pile (I don't think that that construction qualifies to be called a stand). In my opinion a stand has a roof and sides. Also if I had that named after me I would be insulted.
Thanks. |

| Is this another forum similar to the one that they used to have on the Warwickshire site; where you are not allowed to have an opinion then?
I ask a civil question and all I get is sarcasm.
Thanks for your help. |

| to my knowledge members area goes from final part of the Basil stand round to just below the left end of the old stand(under the press box) at the new rd end. For the record my opinion is that the GH pavillion has been a huge success...provides a great view and members seemed to vote with their feet last year when even for midweek championship matches it wa hard to find a seat. As for the Basil stand, many cricket stands do not have a roof but again this provides the spectators with a great view of the game and again has been a gret success for the club. |

| Lofty. To my knowledge the members area is as optimistic described except for the twenty over games when it is restricted only to the car showroom. For the record the dolly stand may not be classical to look at but affords a good view from it. I have heard the pavillion called many derogatory things but again the view from inside it is very good and much better from in front of the old one. |

| I've not had the opportunity to see cricket from the pavillion yet as I am not a member (may re-join mid-season, but can't afford it right now). I have only been in the ground floor bar for the Cricket Society meetings. To me it is ugly from the outside, and like most modern buildings lacks any ambiance.
The one thing that did surprise me though is that there seems to be less toilet facilities, unless I missed something.
Thanks.
Yes optomistic the view from dolly's "stand" is good unfortunately at only 5' 6" I am not tall enough to enjoy it. As my legs do not reach the floor which I find uncomfortable. |

| Are the Gents in the old green scoreboard still open? We used to send my Grandad off to visit them as a partnership breaker. One game it worked so well that he missed the end of a stubborn 9th wkt partnership, and a very brief 10th wkt one, and re-emerged, relieved, to see the players walking off at the end of the game. Mind you, a friend of mine once missed 4 goals in a Conference game at Darlington, against Boston United, nipping for a wee and a coffee..... _________________ My first match: Headley, Turner, Stimpson, B d'Oliveira, Hemsley, Yardley, Ormrod, Wilcock, Gifford, Holder, Carter

| One of my friends reckoned that one of our group had the ability to stop GH in his tracks, by going for a p. When I went to Wigan a few years ago for a cup match Villa scored 5. Someone on one of the other coaches had a bad day. The coach broke down so he missed the first 3 then he went to get refreshment and missed another. |

Lofty, all opinions are very welcome (as long as forum rules are not broken) but do you not think your comments were also sarcastic? Pot, kettle and black spring to mind

| I think the comment about the lack of gents toilet facilities in the GH pavilion is accurate though. I couldn't believe the fact that the gents is in fact smaller that the gents in the old pavilion! |

| " a raised structure from which to view sport " is probably the only definition. There is the grandly names Cathedral stand next to the minor scoreboard as indeed there used to be tiered seating where the marquee is now. Does anyone know what will happed to the marquee once the Ladies pavillion has been replaced ? |

| Don't know much about ant future redevolpment at the moment, are the plan still on hold (hotel etc) due to the current financial situation, perhaps someone from the club could update us on here. Regarding the Gents in the new pavillion, yes they are way too small for the size of the facility, however its not a long walk to the ones under the ladies, perhaps a steward could open the gate on the ladies side of front the GH Pavillion during match breaks for easier/quicker access to them |
