PostSubject: Trees at NR   Sat Jul 03, 2010 4:48 pm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/worcestershire/8780308.stm

Article on the BBC site regarding trees blocking the view of the Cathedral, The Club are doing their best to see whos responsibllty they are.

Personally I'm not fussed about the trees at all, I'm more concerned about the playing side of this great club than a view of the Cathedral and would rather see us win the LVCC than look across to see the view however pretty it is.

I was a member at New Road up untill 2003, when I retired (as a member) because of bad health. I used to attend the forums, and remember one where the newt made comment of planning laws saying that there had to be a view of the cathedral from the road. This was cited when someone complained about the disproportionate amount of space allocated to corporate/committee functions compared to members.

I have not actually been onto the nets aream but if they are ont the Kings School property then the responsibility belongs to them. If on the river bank, well someone must have responsibility for maintaining that. The council may be?

I'd rather look at a Multi-Storey car-park if that was the price to pay for winning the LVCC.

If the trees are actually on the riverbank, they might be the responsibility of the Environment Agency. The EA was, after all, only to keen to rip up 50 trees to build the bund in Hylton Road.

We need someone from ''elf and safety'' to realise that squirrels dropping nuts from trees this high is extremely deleterious to the health of passers by.

Then some jobsworth from some office deep in bowels of the council will have them lopped by tomorrow night! Wink

Doesn't the view of the cathedral become irrelevant when the new buildings go up ? Or perhaps the plans didn't extend around the ground that far. Anyway, I agree that we have more important things to worry about.

That is exactly what I thought when I saw the size of it, but as I no longer go down to St Johns since the cafe shut (I arrive in Worcester at the crowngate bus station). I have not seen it from that angle yet.

It's a decent curry house now if you're interested!

IIRC, the redevelopment extends to the Supporters' shop and no further.

Thanks for that Henry, but much as I like curry I don't really want it for breakfast. Smile

Makes for a steamy day....

In fact, I understand that the curry house wants to open a concession at New Road for avid supporters who need non-stop curries from morning to close of play .

They plan to call it The Wind In The Willows..

I'll just get my coat...
