PostSubject: Winter in the Pavilion   Mon Sep 28, 2009 3:33 pm

I must admit that it isn't so much cricket I miss over the winter- Sky gives me that- but New Road..the characters, the life and the ambience. I do dream of it from afar- and hence why I will attend a University match or a invitational against Herefordshire in late March. Reading some recent posts, I doubt I am the only one loving the atmosphere of New Road.

The whole point of the Graeme Hick Pavilion was to be floodproof and thus to provide a revenue stream for us through the winter. I am happy now to say- now that the season has gone- that a senior Club source yesterday told me that as well as more frequent Sunday lunches; we will be having some sort of social opening of the Pavilion in the winter Very Happy

Now of course, get it wrong and we burn bank notes. So I am not expecting a regular opening: it would turn into the Severn Bar by default if we did; but perhaps nights with big screen football or rugby- or even Meet The Players nights where Members can have a chat and some food.

I think it will be a case of 'Use it or Lose it'- and I did say I would come monthly at least. October is the 'month off'- and hopefully there will always be that six weeks of time to go on holiday etc.- but come Bonfire Night, I hope that we can meet up more frequently and more organised than even any Meet-Ups that we do. I am not knocking anyone's hard work, or Worcestershire pubs- hardly! But the Pavilion will get people coming in, refreshed, happy and breaking the winter into nice, manageable 'chunks'.

So hopefully not seven months until we can meet again then.

Excellent lunch in the pavillion today, great value for money. Highly recommend that you give it a bash.

But sadly the place just isn't used enough over the winter, Serchers.
