| ECB Recreational XI > what the heck is that ? Out of contract players ! Have no idea what this is about. Otherwise : Glamorgan - beatable Lancs - difficult Somerset - tough, but no Langer to inspire them Surrey - two wins for us as long as Davies pulls a fetlock Sussex - beatable (easily as we've seen lately !) Three groups of 7 with the winners and best second team to go to semis. The ECB want the public to name the Recreational XI What about the "Unwanted Hasbeens"

| Yes - looks like we could have done a lot worse in the draw. Davies is the real danger man, I think. |

That means there are going to be a awful lot of games which will be meaningless. Another gem from the ECB Stupid Ideas Committee.
4 groups of 5...top 2 into quarter finals works a lot better. Play each other home and away and the group winners get a home tie in the last 8. |

I Think the counties wanted more HOME matches so 6 home games is better than 4, we as members want this too |

| Here's a thought. What happens if the ECB Recreational XI make it to the semis, or heaven forbid, the final ? It would make a mockery of County Cricket. Even a University team would have been a better choice. But wouldn't I love it if we smash Surrey and Lancs !! Similar feelings re ECB team and dead matches on Sussex board, glad to see that they feel they're in a strong group as they have to play Worcs (cheers Sweaty !!) http://www.sussexcricket.co.uk/fanzone/message-board/topic/5605/pro-40-draw/ |

| I think our Group is the toughest. 2009 winners, Runners Up and 3rd (us) plus stronger Surrey and usual strong Lancs- Ouch !! |

| Dont think they will have one - they'll move around and play on the minor county/festival ground nearest to their county opponents. Its a team made up from non pros - ie minor county players and club players who play at clubs in fc counties. |

| With regard to Serchers comment let's not forget that a a very stong Combined Universities side nearly made it to the B&H semi finals in 1989 beating Surrey and WCCC and finishing 4 runs short of Somerset in the QF. In a side consisting of Crawley ,Atherton , Hussein , Speight , SP James , Boiling and Tolley it did the competition no harm |

| I think that instead of an ECB Recreatino XI, that the Minor Counties Champions from the previous season should be given the spot. Would certainly give the Minor Counties a huge incentive. Trouble is we are talking about the ECB and forward thinking they are not unless you throw bags of money at them (Stanford)!!!!! _________________ GA Hick MBE, gone but not forgotten!!! Thanks for the memories First Game : 21/04/1991 vs Kent (Refuge Assurance Sunday League) - Team; Curtis, Moody, Hick, Botham, D'Oliveira, Neale*, Weston, Rhodes+, Illingworth, Lampitt, Radford. Won by 39 runs, Moody hit his highest One Day score of 160 in an opening stand with Curtis of 198. |

| It should be the Minor Counties team, but the Minor Counties Champions is a very good idea as skershaw has said.
As I have written elsewhere, it would be good to think that our away game with them is at Bridgnorth, Oakengates,Colwall, Brockhampton, Stone or Walsall- rather than Trowbridge, Shenley, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Diss or Sidmouth. |
