| Back to the hockey. Different sport, same result. Lost in the semis to the Germans, although not on penalties. _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

| Just watched an hour or so of this and as expected found it difficult to get into, but then I'm a neutral supporter so it's as exciting as watching Warks play Gloucs. Totally unimpressed with ITV whose only job is to have presenters in a studio, everything else is done for them. So they've picked a token Indian woman to co-present (is the world really that p.c. these days ?) and she's clueless. Chennai Super Kings were falling behind the run rate and she actually said "the team in yellow have to get a lot more runs" _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

| The presenters are shockingly bad. Any summariser will have their work cut out rising above their banality. The cricket? Just what you'd expect. Marmite? _________________ My first match: Headley, Turner, Stimpson, B d'Oliveira, Hemsley, Yardley, Ormrod, Wilcock, Gifford, Holder, Carter

| After 45 summers, ITV prove that when it comes to cricket...they are still ITV! |

| Grabbed half an hour to watch highlights tonight, much improved effort from ITV with Thorpe and Hick adding some credibility. Hayden was fantastic, 93 off 43. He used his Mongose bat which is the sawn-off variety. It works very well _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

| They seem to have dropped the dopey bloke in the studio, good move, but why bother at all? Just carry the feed from India....and why the ITV trailer mid over? I always felt as if I was batting with a sawn-off bat, or a toothpick _________________ My first match: Headley, Turner, Stimpson, B d'Oliveira, Hemsley, Yardley, Ormrod, Wilcock, Gifford, Holder, Carter

| Tim,
I think the ITV trailer mid over is to replace the adverts coming in on the feed..likewise the blurring on the top left hand corner and the blue bar at the bottom of the screen. |

| The cricket is just incidental to the adverts here on the SPix channel. They frequently miss the first and last ball of each over and any replays whilst trying to cram in as many adverts for shampoo, motorbikes and sponsor logos as possible. And, no, we can't see the field of play during strategy breaks either, but I'm going for the milling around option - does anybody actually think the concept was introduced by cricketers? Difficult to say whether the excitement seen on TV is genuine or whether any of 'the greatest show on earth' is real for that matter. Have yet to sit through a whole game and have seen very few entertaining overs - perhaps my concentration levels can't handle two successive dot balls any more? http://wisdencricketer.com/blogs/blog/2010/03/18/mandira-and-hicky-–-together-at-last/Alan Tyers doesn't think ITV are delivering the greatest show on earth (You'll need to paste this link into your browser as the URL link doesn't like the gratuitous hyphens) |
