| Full of admiration for what Andy Murray is doing in Australia, but have you seen the size he can open his mouth to on the Beeb sports page at the moment? It's amazing and faintly revolting.
If only we could cross him with Cherie Blair we could have something to really write home about. Tony seems to be prepared to do almost anything else for money at the moment......... |

| I've moved this thread to Other Sports from where it was- much as I would like Murray to have a mother from Droitwich, I fear that he is from the land of the thistle and not that of the pear.... |

| Did you see the back page of The Times yesterday? His mouth literally filled half the page. |

| Can't get into Wimbledon but this grabbed my attention last night. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/8757259.stm 59 - 59 in the last set !! Isner, with 98, and Mahut (95) have also both smashed the previous record for the most aces, the 78 set by Ivo Karlovic in a Davis Cup tie in 2009. The previous longest match was at the French Open in 2004, when Fabrice Santoro beat Arnaud Clement after six hours and 35 minutes. 10 hours so far for this one. |

| It ended 70-68 to Isner...with all records you can think of broken; and with both making over 100 aces. The previous record was 72 aces. Fittingly, both players were given awards by the All England Club at the end of the match- an 11 hour match at that. |

| A football free zone and only one British singles player left after the first tuesday. This ridiculous cult of the personality and petty jingoism that emanates from SW19 from middle England who are not only getting their revenge on the football season but also believe that the tennis season starts in the last week of June and finishes in the first week of July. Up until this week HMQ and I had one thing in common. Our last visit to the All England club was in 1977. |

| I'm no expert on this, but it seems that the performances given by the UK's young tennis players in return for the money that has been pumped into tennis is a scandal. To have just one player left in the singles after the first day is terrible. |

| It will remain so as unfortunately tennis is an expensive game to play with a snobbish, class ridden structure and administration. The LTA gravy train is slightly shorter than that at the ECB though ! |

| Interesting to listen to Derek Howorth on 5 live the other morning (Chairman of the LTA) He was saying everything's rosy as Wimbledon only represents 2 weeks of the tennis year, and how great the British players do for the remainder of the year.
Really Derek, really? _________________ I am an architect, they call me a butcher I am a pioneer, they call me primitive

| We were there yesterday. The fact that I missed two of the best T20 performances for the trip is irrelevant, all I can say is it must be love!! We had a great day with seats for Centre court, an engrossing match with Nadal (and I do not like tennis) and then a commanding display by Murray. All in all a very good day! |
