With bowling identifed as their weak suit, and Kaneria not fully available, who on earth is going to take 50 CC wickets for Essex in 2010? Napier? ten Doeschate? Masters? Wright? Phillips? Chambers? Westfield? None of their domestic players did it in 2009 in Div 2 - (Kaneria 75), Masters 45, Wright 40 or 2008 - (Kaneria 40) Masters 40, ten Doeschate 36 or 2007 - (Kaneria 74, Bichel 41), Middlebrook 24 Hang on who is going to take 50 CC wickets for us?

| I'd have thought E-Cat is a better prospect Xray, plus he lives close to the ground. Can see him now, marking his run-up with a can of Kronenburg. _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

WBB prob a good bet for 50wkts and 500 CC runs Can't really see any of our crop getting 50 CC wickets this season. Whelan or Jones will lead the way though IMHO

Agree about Napier. The concept of 50 wickets in the CC in unfamiliar to Warwicks fans as noone has achieved it for us since Dougie Brown - in 2002!

Yes very strong in the nineties but the noughties have seen a lean patch for Warks bowlers Kim By and large the difference with us has been the step up between the divisions '00 D2 (McGrath 76), Lampitt 50 '01 D2 (Bichel 66), Sheriyar 65 '02 D2 Kabir 60, Sheriyar 57, Batty 51 '03 D2 (Hayward 67), Kabir 54, Batty 53, Mason 49 '04 D1 Mason 51, Batty 45 '05 D2 Mason 51, Kabir 50 '06 D2 (Zaheer 78), Batty 43, Mason 41, Kabir 40 '07 D1 Kabir 45 '08 D2 Kabir 59, Jones 42 '09 D1 Mason 43 If we get 2 x 40's, 2 x 30's and 3 x 20's from MS Mason, GM Andrew, A Richardson, CH Whelan, RA Jones, JD Shantry & Imran Arif we'll be doing better than alright. Shakib, Moeen, Mitchell and Cameron should also chip in another 30. I am hoping there is also a mystery domestic spinner yet to be announced.

Who out of an Essex attack missing Kaneria is going to get 50 wickets? Their bowling options are Napier, Masters, Wright, Bopara, Ten Doeschate, Chambers, Westfield, Phillips and Palladino. Not too many wickets there! As for Worcestershire, Mason, Richardson, Whelan and Andrew need to perform well with the backup seamers Jones, Shantry, Arif, Cameron and Russell chipping in whereever possible.
