Good news for the boy, but bad news for us. You can see is stint as our overseas player looking bleaker by the day if he as a good tour.

Most opposing batsman if my memory serves me correctly !

It would be a great shame for Worcs if Smith is unable to play, as he looks very promising.

It would be dissapointing, I feel sorry for bumpy as he as chosen a young talented cricketer that no-one else as looked at yet, And from what i have seen he looks very good.

And he's just earnt another man of the match award by hitting another 100 and taking a career best 7 for 60 odd in the latest match for New South Wales!!!!!!

Meanwhile, New Road chief executive Mark Newton says Worcestershire are still awaiting official confirmation from Cricket Australia to allow Steve Smith to join the New Road side for the Frie-nds Provident t20 competition.
The 20-year-old all-rounder is currently out in New Zealand with the Baggy Greens and is fast becoming one of the hottest talents Down Under.
Australia are touring England in the summer when they face Pakistan, but Newton doesn’t believe that will be a problem.
“Of course, there is a clause in his contract that if he is required by Australia then we release him,” Newton said.
“At the moment the contract has been signed off and we are just awaiting the all-clear from Cricket Australia.
“We are not expecting any problems and I’m not concerned at this stage as it only went back to them a couple of weeks ago.”

Looks that way, if he's playing for the Aussies against England in June. Really disappointing news. And to make it worse, Bolly is in the Aussie squad too so we can't even call him up.

Come on Bumpy, quick rethink is required. I see Surrey signed Symonds today.

Indeed, he is looking for a county.
However, I would advise caution:

1) He let us down before
2) He is recovering from serious injury
3) He was World ODI No2 recently, and will want more than we can probably offer him.
