| So difficult time for other counties as well. I'm sure some counties are living beyond their means with their overseas recruitment policies, especially with some prepared to part with bags of money just for 20/20 players. It just shows how desperate some are to succeed even if it means diving into the red. And if we were to have a bad summer with lots of matches rained off, then where will they be.......
It makes you realise that lots of clubs are heading for rocky waters. Some seem to worry more about it than others. |

The Don Amott rebirth of Derbys. is now beyond caravan jokes- good work from good people, and simply by working within their limits and what they know they can turnover.
Kent..well, what can you say. The previous membership prices may well have been too low- but the 70% increase is the baseline figure that the members will see. Expect trouble there- they really have not recovered from the annus horrabilis of a few years ago, have they? |

| Things got so heated on the Kent board regarding calls from SGM's, open letters to the chairman and petitions that the moderators have had to remove entire threads which has lead to further argument re. censorship. Rob Key has even waded into the debate regarding the on-field impact of an unhappy membership. Not sure if its a case of hotels before players or hotels > players > members? |

An excellent thread for our very own Hotels to join up, and feel comfortably at home with like minded souls On the Derbyshire thing, are they not one of the biggest culprits regarding Kolpaks and other devious/dubious means of getting players ? And if so, I thought that this was the most expensive route for recruitment. And yet they've made a few quid. |

| Derbyshire had six, released three and have just contracted a fourth kolpak. Leicestershire have let all four of theirs go. Northants have 4 but subject to Home Office ruling on eligibility may lose 2. Somerset are down to 3, Surrey are down to 2. |

Asia, if you get the time or inclination, could you list next seasons kolpaks as we stand at the moment? _________________ Alex Higgins R.I.P. Thanks for all my memories of a sporting legend.

| All righty then...
Usual caveat - posters from other counties please don't jump down my throat if such and such has now fulfilled the qualification period, has married the captains sister or has discovered Irish ancestry etc.
Derbyshire - Smith, Greg Derbyshire - Park, Garry Derbyshire - Hayward, Mornantau Derbyshire - Peterson, Robin Durham - Benkenstein, Dale Durham - Breese, Gareth Essex - Flower, Grant Gloucs - Ireland, Anthony (if Eligible) Hants - McKenzie, Neil Kent - van Jaarsveld, Martin Lancs - du Plessis, Francois (if Eligible) Lancs - Powell, Darren Middx - Berg, Gareth N’hants - Hall, Andrew N’hants - Boje, Nico N’hants - van der Wath, Johannes (if Eligible) N’hants - Wessels, Riki (if Eligible) Notts - Adams, Andre Middx - Henderson, Tyrone (if Eligible) Somerset - de Bruyn, Zander Somerset - Willoughby, Charl Somerset - Thomas, Alfonso Surrey - Nel, Andre Surrey - Dernbach, Jade Sussex - Goodwin, Murray Sussex - Collymore, Corey Yorks - Rudolph, Jacques (if Eligible) Yorks - Brophy, Gerard
Think some of those 'if Eligibles' such as Ireland, du Plessis and Henderson (or whether the county has recently gone and found another kolpak) may now be confirmed as being in the negative. Note that a certain recently dropped SAf fast bowler strongly linked to a county has been omitted. |

| Is Nantie new at Derbys.?
More than even the 'M5 escalator'- always really a two-way thing, of course: Derbys. have been Worcs. 'Old Boys' as Northants. were once to Middx. and Essex for Kent and Surrey. |

| MM, would you agree that they might be looking at the wrong areas where cut-backs might be required eg acadamies, coaching etc ? It seems to me that greatest area of expense, and inflation, is player wages which are now out of kilt with the real world. Salary caps and/or something similar must be brought in. |

| Cutting back in expenditure on academies and coaching is like pouring weedkiller over all of your garden on the basis that the weeds will all be gone...and then wondering why your plants and lawn etc. have just disappeared. |
