| Lancs don't have a particularly strong batting line up though. Loye has left and I think du Plessis (might be wrong on him) and so that only leaves : 2010 overseas player (2009 was Laxman & Prince), Chiltern, Croft, Horton, and a few all rounders. To be honest, our batting line up was far better this year (on paper). _________________ WCCC : County Champions Elect 2012

| I'm not surprised Lancashire are going for Moore as they only have Horton, Chilton, Brown, Laxman, Croft, Proctor and Shanker. But then at Sussex we only have Yardy, Nash, Joyce, Goodwin, Hamilton-Brown, Gatting and Thornely although Machan and Wells two highly promising Academy batsmen maybe offered contracts. |

| Obviously plenty of signings are needed, but if Alan Richardson is the height of our cricketing ambition we're shopping at the Pound Shop this winter. |

| Going back to what was said earlier in the thread about the management at WCCC, I think that they are culpable because every time they get promoted they seem to be clueless about how to get us to stay up. This year, we would not have been promoted in the first place if it had not been for Jones' wickets in 2008. They must have had an inkling all they way through the winter that he would not be match fit for at least the start of the 2009 season (or they should have been suspicious), yet no attempt was made to strengthen the squad at all. They could have tried to recruit A.J. Harris or someone similar who would have given us a fast bowling option as well as Kabir and Mason. neither of whom has been in perfect fitness in recent years. I remember that the Daily Telegraph said after the very first match that we looked like a team set for instant demotion.
I know that Steve Rhodes likes to be seen as a glass half full chap. It's great to be that positive, but his recent statement on the Beeb makes me think he is somewhere on a different planet to the rest of us. If he thinks that there are just a few grumblers but that most people are happy with what has been served up this season he is very mistaken indeed. |

It is more of a question of who is available that would improve the squad. Someone suggesting Stubbings but I don't think he is any better than Kervezee or Wheeldon. There is absolutely no point in signing players for the sake of it! |

| I for one would like to wish Stephen Moore well, wherever he turns up. He has been good to WCCC as WCCC has been good to him. I will be sorry to see him go. |

| Michaell you say the only reason we went up the year before was Jones, this I think is a little simplistic but you do not credit this same management with attractiNg him in the first place. Orthopaedic surgery is not in some ways an exact science and they will have taken the best advice available at the time and noone would have expected both Jones and kabir to have been so limited. People were not unhappy with the bowling at the beginning of the season, it was the batting. Throwing brickbats with the benifut of hindsight is a very easy game to play. The batting was weaker than the year before granted but most of the complaints were about the lack of replacement for Hick (someone irreplacable in my opinion) but blaming the management there is more reasonable perhaps. It is easy still to say we should have replaced this player and picked up that player but bearing in mind the finances of the club in the last two years noone has come up with a way to pay for this unless the players are going to accept moonbeams and starlight in lieu of wages. I still don't get the facilities arguement. Though I accept a lot of what Mr dobell says there are players who have come through this season with the same facilities, there are players who produced much better performances last year with the same facilities. The management has not been perfect by a long stretch but until individuals on the field take some responsibility. Then you can have whatever management you want, I think it will make little difference. |
