| Straight from the Horse's mouth via email:
STEPHEN MOORE TO LEAVE WORCESTERSHIRE
Worcestershire CCC can confirm that Stephen Moore has informed the Club he will be activating the release clause in his contract with immediate effect.
Chief Executive, Mark Newton, says "Stephen has considered his position very carefully and has made the decision to move to another County. Whilst we are very sorry to see him go, we wish him well and thank him for his contribution to Worcestershire Cricket. We are delighted the County has helped him to the fringe of full International honours and hope that he achieves his ultimate ambition in the years ahead."
Anyone surprised? I'm not, but I'm very disappointed as he could have done a lot to help the youngsters, quite apart from anything else. |

| Perhaps he hasn't from his own personal perspective, but, if as he seems to think, he is to good for the second division why did he perform so poorly this Summer?
I think he took the easy option, and by having that clause in his contract, there was little incentive for him to give his all for WCCC, once it became apparent that it was going to be almost impossible to avoid relegation. I am not saying he didn't try, just that it must have had an effect on how he approached the game even if an unconcsious one. _________________

| All very depressing as this creates even more uncertainty as to the direction of the club . With three leading players deciding to play elsewhere in 2010 many members and supporters will be asking questions as to the management set up. So , now we need ; An opening bat A middle order bat A keeper Spin bowler or 2 Opening bowler or 2 Members and supporters expect more than WCCC to be a nursery club before going on elsewhere. |

| We have Wheeldon and Kervezee, so I reckon we only need one other batsman - Jefferson perhaps? |

That surprises me: I thought Benning had his feet under the table there. Steve Stubbings it is then |

| As has been said many times before on here the management that has lead to this is also the management that has done very well in the alternate seasons as well and if to be blamed must also be credited. Although I wish him well and he has done nothing questionable legally certainly I do not think it reflects well on his character either on or off the field or to his commitment to anyone or thing other than Stephen Moore. This may well not be true but that is how it appears to me. |

Leics had Benning opening the bowling in the CC which amazed me!!. Reports are Moore is joining Lancashire. I have to say Im not upset that hes become about the 1000th player to turn Warwicks down. |

| Benning has already signed for Leicestershire. Here is confirmation: http://www.leicestershireccc.co.uk/lc/News/James-Benning-signs-for-CountyJefferson has been offered a three year contract with the captaincy. Do you need any more seamers? You have Kabir, Mason, Whelan, Richardson, Andrew, Jones, Arif and Shantry! Do you need another batsmen? You have Solanki, Mitchell, Smith, Ali, Kervezee, Wheeldon, Manuel, Pinner, Pardoe, Leach and Kapil Is Stubbings any better than what you have? A keeper and spinner are definitely needed! Looks like Moore is off to Lancashire then. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/oct/07/stephen-moore-worcestershire-lancashire

The good news might be that the players we have next year WANT to be at Worcester and will roll their sleeves up and get stuck in. Perhaps the quality of player will be lower but they'll make up for it with effort and attitude. |

| Worcestershire squad as it stands:
Batsmen: Solanki *, Mitchell, Smith, M Ali, Kervezee, Wheeldon, Manuel, Pardoe, Pinner, Leach, Kapil
Keeper: Cox
Spinners:
Seamers: K Ali, Mason, Richardson, Whelan, Andrew, Jones, Arif, Shantry
Worcestershire need a keeper and a spinner at the very least. I don't however think is realistic to expect the powers that be at Worcestershire to be able to recruit 2 batsmen, 2 keepers, 2 spinners and 2 seamers before the start of next season. |

| Remember Ryan Driver? He was doing well with us, thought the grass was greener at Old Trafford and hardly got a game and was lost to cricket in a couple of years. I hope for Moore's sake the same does not happen to him, but on this year's form he would not get into the Lancashire team.
Better to be a big fish in a small pond as my grandma used to say. |
