Yes, the Cricket Archive database is great- and reminds us of an all-too-recent time when everything didn't have to be for silverware and matches could be played for quality and pride...

Lavinia, Duchess of Norfolk's XI didn't survive the Dowager Duchess of the title- but it once played the senior Tourists in a First-Class match at the lovely private ground at Arundel Castle and Park- open to the public, I must add.

For some reason in 1987, it played the Rest of the World rather than a Test side- and played a full-strength line-up as well. Given that it was 1987, the Duchess or her selectors picked loads of Worcsie boys to defend English pride Cool

Unusual to note the number 1 bat- and that Neale wasn't the skipper in this sea of Pears. Can't fault who was though...- and Hicky saves the day as usual....yes, another match I'd have given anything to have watched...

It may have been a warm up for the Lord's (or MCC?) Bi Centenary match.

Yes, must have been in connection with the Bicentenary match, which was a cracker for 4 days, and rain washed out the last one Crying or Very sad .

Presumably Worcs didn't have a match at the time, and most other counties did.
